Saipeta Srinivas was born on 29 October 1976 in the serene village of Gundlapochampally in the Medchal–Malkajgiri district of Telangana. Raised by his parents, Sri and Smt. Saipeta Narasimha, he grew up with strong values of hard work, discipline and empathy. The simplicity of rural life shaped his character and gave him a deep understanding of the everyday struggles of ordinary families.
He completed his schooling at Government Boys High School, Alwal, passing his SSC in 1992 with a strong academic record. Keen to gain employable skills, Srinivas pursued an ITI course at Nagarjuna ITI College, Kukatpally and successfully completed it in 1994. He further strengthened his education by finishing his Intermediate at Railway Junior College, Tarnaka in 1996.
These formative years — moving from village to town to city for education — gave him both technical skills and a broad, practical perspective on youth aspirations, jobs and education in Telangana.
Driven by a passion to serve people, Srinivas formally entered politics in 2006 by joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He quickly became known as a hardworking organiser who would personally follow up on local issues. He was elected as ZPTC (Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency) representative for Gundlapochampally, where he focused on rural roads, drinking water, school infrastructure and basic amenities.
Throughout his TDP years, he actively participated in party programmes, grassroots campaigns and organisational activities. His strength lay in connecting with people across communities, explaining schemes clearly and ensuring that benefits reached the intended families.
Inspired by the ideals of Rajiv Gandhi and especially Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Srinivas found his natural home in the Indian National Congress. In 2020, under the leadership of TPCC President and MP Revanth Reddy, he joined the Congress and began working as an active party organiser.
His dedication and leadership saw him rise quickly within the party. In 2023, he was appointed as Municipal President of Gundlapochampally. As Municipal President and 12th Ward Councillor, he has taken up issues of drainage, street lights, CC roads, water supply and welfare schemes with a strong emphasis on transparency and accountability.
Today, Srinivas combines his grassroots connect with the Congress vision of inclusive growth, focusing on long-term development as well as immediate problem-solving.
From 2006 to 2013, Srinivas was an active and committed participant in the Telangana statehood movement. He believed that Telangana deserved its own identity and governance and threw himself into every major phase of the struggle.
His role in the Telangana struggle proved his courage and commitment to social justice and left a lasting impression on the political landscape of the region.

Roots in the constituencyA snapshot of on-ground programmes and public events across Gundlapochampally.
Beyond elections, Srinivas has been deeply involved in farmers’ struggles, social service, youth encouragement and party organisation.
Led dharnas demanding abolition of the contributory pension scheme and raising voice against policies that harm farmers. Opposed decisions that weaken agricultural security and rural livelihoods.
Continues to protest anti-people decisions of state and central governments, always placing farmers’ survival and dignity at the centre.
Organised mandal- and village-level meetings at his own cost, motivating youth and new leaders. Played a key role in membership drives and party development programmes.
Actively campaigned for candidates, explained party policies to every voter and worked tirelessly for Congress victories across booths.
Conducted district and state-level cricket tournaments to encourage young talent. Supported orphans and poor students by helping them join schools and pursue studies.
Built strong relationships across communities and ensured that state and central schemes reach deserving families.
Srinivas has supported families during tragedies, contributed to funeral expenses and helped the bereaved stand back on their feet. He has worked on village development activities such as laying CC roads, digging borewells, installing street lights and solving water problems and drainage issues.
He helped many eligible people receive pensions — widow, old-age and disability pensions — and facilitated White Ration Cards for poor families. He regularly assists the elderly with essentials and monetary support during crises.
These efforts have turned him into a first-response contact for many families facing emergencies or bureaucratic hurdles.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Srinivas organised distribution of fruits, meal packets and water to people stranded on roadsides and at worksites. He provided rice bags and financial support to migrant labourers and families without income.
He conducted awareness drives on masking, sanitisation and social distancing and provided vitamin tablets, masks and sanitisers to affected citizens. Even after the second wave, he continued to arrange vegetables, fruits and support for those in need.
Vaccination awareness camps and health seminars helped many residents understand the importance of vaccination and post-COVID care.
Srinivas envisions Gundlapochampally as a model semi-urban municipality in Telangana — clean, well-connected and fair to every colony, basti and village.
His approach is to combine immediate problem-solving with planned, phased works that have a clear timeline and transparent reporting to citizens.
For Srinivas, development means more than announcements. It means budgets on paper, work on the ground and citizens who actually feel the difference. He believes that every rupee spent in the municipality must translate into visible improvements in streets, drains, lights, water and public spaces.
With the support of people and party workers, he aims to make Gundlapochampally a benchmark for responsive and ethical municipal governance in Telangana.
